Important CMS Dates For Summer

Below are important dates for CMS students to know this summer.

Cruise The Halls - This is a casual opportunity to walk through the building and get your bearings at your own pace. Students must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Bring a copy of your schedule.

August 6: 9:00-10:00 am
August 10: 11:00-12:00 pm
August 12: 1:00-2:00 pm

 

CMS Student Tour - August 18: 6:30-7:30 pm

  • Both parents and students are welcome
  • Meet in the auditorium for a brief talk
  • Locate classrooms (bring your schedule)
  • Practice opening lockers

 

Step Up Day - August 24: 7:10-11:40 am

  • A special day to help students transition smoothly to middle school
  • Only 7th Graders attend school
  • Students should take the bus to school
  • Students will rotate through info stations
  • Lunch will be served

Pending Board approval on Tuesday, July 14, we are excited to announce our new CMS principal, Dr. Andrew Hull. Dr. Hull is the current middle school assistant principal at Manheim Township Middle School. He brings more than nine years of middle school leadership experience and was also previously a social studies teacher at Palmyra Area High School. 

Andrew earned his bachelor's degree from Lebanon Valley College, his Master of Science Degree, Educational Administration from The University of Scranton, and his Doctor of Education from Neumann University. He has a strong background in facilitating and developing curriculum and instruction and in professional development, analyzing assessment data, and fostering positive communication and collaboration among stakeholders. Dr. Hull also teaches graduate level courses in Educational Leadership at Neumann University.

A meet-and-greet opportunity will be shared later this summer once his start date is confirmed. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hull to CMS!

Golf Tournament Flyer

HHS Class of 2030 Tour/Orientation

Attention Class of 2030 and incoming grade 9 families! If you have not yet registered for an HHS Tour/Orientation session and would still like to attend, please contact Dr. Beth Becker, Grade 9 Principal, at beth_becker@hempfieldsd.org or 717-898-5531. The online registration link is now closed.

From Senator Smucker's Office: 

The 2026 Patriot Games will bring together exceptional student-athletes ages 14–17 from across the 50 states, U.S. territories, and tribal nations to compete in a series of challenges that test strength, endurance, agility, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. One male and one female champion will each receive a $250,000 scholarship, with the competition streaming on the ESPN App and culminating in a national primetime ESPN/ABC special on August 13.

Applications are open now at https://freedom250.org/patriot-games and are due on July 10th, 2026. Interested students can apply by submitting basic eligibility information along with a short video introducing themselves and explaining why they want to compete.

Registration for Hempfield Virtual Academy (HVA) opens today through Aug. 7, 2026, for students in grades 7-12. Students/families interested in HVA need to complete the Enrollment Request Form. 

Your request will be reviewed by the HVA Coordinator in collaboration with the student’s counselor, principal, and IEP case manager (if applicable).

The Mountville Youth Athletic Association has been providing youth athletic programs since 1983. We’re proud to offer historic baseball fields—many with field lights and concessions—along with a rich tradition of developing players who go on to compete for Hempfield High School and beyond. Our program provides a great atmosphere for kids to learn, grow, and make friends.

Any child who lives in Hempfield School District is eligible to enroll. We look forward to another great season!
